Ephesians

Ephesians 6:17 ‘...the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God’.

The sword of a Roman soldier was attached to his belt.

The soldier needed to be skilful in using the sword.

The sword of the Spirit is taken from the belt of truth;

it is a word the Holy Spirit puts on our heart for a specific purpose.

We become skilful in using the sword

by filling our heart and mind with scripture;

and letting the Holy Spirit guide us through His word.

The Holy Spirit will equip us for every situation with the word of God.
