Set free from the futility of trying to live a righteous life.

Galatians 3:24 ‘Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.’

The word schoolmaster refers to someone given the task of teaching,

guarding, and guiding a young child.

The law guides but it also condemns.

It demanded what we could not fulfil;

offered life but brought death;

turned holiness into legalism;

reduced purity to morality;

and changed worship into ritual.

But in Christ the law cannot condemn us;

the power of sin cannot hold us;

the promises of God are able to keep us;

and worship is the joy of our heart.

In Christ we are set free

from the futility of trying to live a righteous life

and we are brought into the glorious freedom of new life.
