Galatians 3:24

"Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith."

— Galatians 3:24

Set free from the futility of trying to live a righteous life.

The word schoolmaster refers to someone given the task of teaching,

guarding, and guiding a young child.

The law guides, but it also condemns.

It demands what we cannot fulfil.

It offers life, but brings death.

It turns holiness into legalism;

reduces purity to morality;

and changes worship into ritual.

But in Christ the law cannot condemn us;

the power of sin cannot hold us;

the promises of God are able to keep us;

and worship is the joy of our heart.

In Christ we are set free

from the futility of trying to live a righteous life

and we are brought into the glorious freedom of new life in Christ.
