Overcoming the world
1 John 5:4 ‘For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.’
The world in this context refers to
the control held over us by worldly and selfish desires.
It is only new life in Christ that gives freedom to overcome.
Faith equips us daily to stand firm in this freedom.
