Our reputation, possessions, abilities, and intellect can keep us from knowing Him.
"Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,"
Our reputation, possessions, abilities, and intellect
can diminish our desire for Christ and His word.
Our reputation can make us fearful of becoming a fool for Christ.
Our possessions can cause us to trust in the security of riches
rather than the promises of God.
Our abilities can make us self-reliant
rather than dependent upon the strength He gives.
Our intellect can become self-elevating
rather than desiring to glorify Jesus.
The experience of knowing Him is of far greater worth than the things we lose.
