The just shall live by faith.
"Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith."
This verse from the prophet Habakkuk is quoted three times in the New Testament,
each time emphasizing a different aspect of this profound truth:
In Romans 1:17, Paul emphasizes "the just" - those made righteous through Christ.
In Galatians 3:11, the focus is on "shall live" - the life we receive through faith.
In Hebrews 10:38, the emphasis is on "by faith" - the means by which we receive all from God.
The one who is lifted up in pride cannot stand before God;
but the one who humbly puts their trust in Christ
receives righteousness, life, and salvation.
Faith is not merely believing facts about God;
it is trusting completely in Christ for everything.
The just shall live - not by works, not by feelings, not by circumstances -
but by faith in the living God.
