His mercy does not depend upon us.
Lamentations 3:22 ‘It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.’
We can depend upon His mercy
because His mercy does not depend upon us.
He shows compassion towards us
because of His character not ours.
Religion has no power to bring new life;
our works can never earn salvation;
and righteous acts cannot wipe away one sin.
The goodness of God and His great love towards us
are found in Jesus Christ alone.
There is no sin His blood cannot cleanse;
no habit His power in us cannot overcome;
no difficulty He will not bring us through;
and there is no person He is not willing to save.
